SV Gap Year Program

Many students, from incoming undergraduates (“Rising Freshman or Freshers”) through to PhD’s (Doctoral Students) are considering taking a Gap Year (GY) or Voluntary Leave of Absence (VLA) during the Covid-19 pandemic. Between 12 and 20 percent of college (undergraduate) students say that they will take a Gap Year, along with 16 percent of rising freshman click here. This number will increase many universities do not open their physical campuses this Autumn and instead opt for the online learning. Preliminary research shows that as many as 25% of undergraduate and graduate-level students are considering a VLA for the 2020-2021 academic year. Deaf actress Alexandra James cast in hit Netflix series ‘Sex Education’

Deaf actress Alexandra James has been cast in the upcoming series of Sex Education, the popular Netflix series chronicling the lives of staff and students at a fictional secondary school.

Alexandra will join the show as Aisha in its fourth series, which is currently filming. Regulars Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas), Aimee Lou Wood and Ncuti Gatwa (who will take over from Jodie Whitaker as the next Doctor) will return to their roles.

James, who previously starred in BBC Three’s The Break, was announced as a new cast member on Friday, alongside Schitt’s Creek actor Dan Levy, Doctor Who‘s Thaddea Graham and Kamikaze‘s Marie Reuther.

Other newcomers include Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa and Imani Yashua.
